One part of SW Suburbs is moving fastest with the least supply
CNBC reported the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate reached 7.49% as of October 11, 2026. Rates that high slow buyers down in most places. But in ZIP 55317, the Real Estate Data Aggregator counted just 1.2 months of supply for the three months ending August 31, 2026. That is the tightest supply of any ZIP code in SW Suburbs. Demand there did not flinch.
The Real Estate Data Aggregator shows that 50% of homes in ZIP 55317 went under contract within two weeks of listing. That is the highest quick-contract share in the market. Buyers there are deciding fast. If you are shopping in 55317, fewer choices can mean less time to think.

Nationally, Realtor.com reported that mortgage rates climbed above 7% for the first time since January 2025.
